The expansion of Westfield UTC in La Jolla CA, celebrates the best of La Jolla in an inspired coastal resort setting, bringing together an array of brands, mixed-uses, experiences, and special touches informed by a casual take on luxury living. Featuring a new two-level flagship Nordstrom, health and wellness, corporate offices, unique restaurants and retail shops and a 300 unit luxury residential tower bring a mixed use dynamic to this vibrant center.

Unique districts were created to cater to the customer, all within a “retail as resort” theme. Intimately scaled architecture with a rich palette of materials, colors and textures, intensive landscaping and shading create a variety of engaging settings: The Pointe is an olive tree filled plaza lined with outdoor restaurants, containing wine bars, a koi pond and playful sculptures. Nordstrom Court features coral trees, fountain and fire features, while the Surfside District embraces the culture of San Diego with an interactive fountain, pops of bright colors and patterns, beach seating, fire pits, as well as an installation dedicated to the art of surfboards. An extensive arts program, in collaboration with local artists and the MCASD, is integrated throughout the property. UTC also features a multi-modal transit hub, including a station for the extension of the light rail system connecting to downtown San Diego.
