New Jersey Performing Arts Center

Located in Newark New Jersey, this award winning project features a 2750 flexible format concert hall and theater, 300 seat studio-theater, rehearsal/dance hall, banquet and restaurant facilities, and extensive public lobby spaces. The exterior architecture is influenced by the industrial and material heritage of Newark and the nearby Ironbound district.

The interior of the main theater space, with its traditional shoebox shape defined by warm wood tones and a dramatic pillowed plaster ceiling evoking the grand amphitheaters of the ancient world and the great music halls of the world is a fine balance of size, intimacy, and acoustic excellence. NJPAC is the long time home for the Alvin Ailey Dance company. NJPAC was on the forefront of the cultural evolution of Newark and remains a key catalyst for the larger redevelopment of Newark and is considered the most diverse performing arts center in the nation.
